Whitework Embroidery

There are lots of techniques and stitches included. Within your course, you get downloadable written instructions packed with photos and diagrams. Each section has its own set of videos, in which I talk you through what I'm doing and why. It's almost like being in class, but with the added bonus that you can access it at your convenience!

Required Materials

  • Edinburgh linen (14x14 inches)
  • Newcastle linen (at least 8x8 inches)
  • Coton a Broder 16 (two skeins)
  • Coton a Broder 30 (one skein)
  • Stranded Cotton (one skein)
  • Chenille Needles size 24
  • Embroidery Needles size 10-12
  • Tapestry Needles size 24-26

Equipment Needed

There are a few more things you'll want on hand for your project.

Frame (slate frame is ideal, but other square frames are available) OR hoop (at least 10 inch)

Small, sharp embroidery scissors (curved ones are very useful)

White sewing thread (for basting)

Stiletto (substitute an awl or knitting needle if a stiletto isn't available)

Wash out pen or permanent blue pencil, well sharpened
